As you can see, she's a cute lil' thing. This was taken with my brand new camera that I recieved in the mail yesterday. I'm totally stoked about it.

She's getting tubby! She was so small when we got her. Dunno if she's trying to bulk up for winter, but the hour of treadmill running that she does in the evening times isn't burning all of her calories. She's cute though.








This second picture gives you a better idea as to why her last name is Featherbottom.

Another gadget...

I'm a gadget guy. I love new gadgets, even if they're not especially new to the market. I need a better camera to take pictures of family and events as well as my travels. The 2.0 Megapixel camera in the iPhone is nice and all, but I need something with a much better quality.. Perhaps I can invest in one with my tax return. My brother-in-law, Douglas (aka Duggle), has a Canon Rebel XTI. I played around with that last night, and I like it a lot. If I can get a good deal on one, I may spring for it.

Loser Week 1 results.

Today was the 1 week mark for my work's weight loss competition. So far, so good. I lost a whopping 20.5 pounds. Below are the semi-daily pictures I took.

My work is starting 2 new contests. "The Biggest Loser" and "The Biggest Winner."
"Loser" starts today and consists of a weight loss competition. It will end on November 30th. I thought it would be interesting to get a face shot and a body shot of myself on several days throughout the competition so my progress can be visually documented. I won't be able to get a picture every day, I'm sure, but I'll document what day of the contest it is. Here are my disappointing starting pictures.














In the end, I'm hoping to get back to being closer like my old self. When I envision myself at my best, I look like this (or better!):















I really want and need to lose weight, so I'm going to work at it hard. Any and all forms of motivation are appreciated.

"The Biggest Winner" starts on September 1 and is a fitness competition to encourage those who work here to get out and excercise. I'm not sure exactly how the competition will be layed out, but it will help further encourage those who work here to get fit. I'm excited! If I do well, I have the potential to win an iPod and/or a $500 Visa Gift Card.

Shelf in the Room

Welcome to the Shelf in the Room blog. The name of this blog is paying homage to my favorite band, Days of the New. I probably won't be writing about them much, however.
I've blogged before on livejournal, but I haven't done that in a long time. A friend of mine has started a couple of blogs and kind of inspired me to get back into it. I originally wanted to start an "A picture a day" blog, but I know that I can't follow through with that. I'll try to update daily, but we'll see how long that lasts. ;)
If I would have done the APAD blog style, I should have started last week though, cuz I've had something worth taking a picture of every night for the past week! I especially wished I would have had a picture of the 8 cop cars, ambulance and fire truck out in front of my condo on Sunday morning. For the 8th time in about a month, the cops were called because of a neighbor that just moved in. More on that later.
